Adoration by Caelitha Adoration by Caelitha
Not that I was carrying a bucket that looked like it might be full of food. Oh, no...

Oh-ho-ho I've seen those eyes and believe you me it is NOT adoration!

It is..."I shall eats the food, I shall sneaks in her house, I shall eats her out of food and house!"

haha

Stupid raccoon! *shakes fist at random raccoon that frequented my parents' house last summer*

Well, this is a meerkat not a raccoon...

but I have met meerkats, and I reckon it's more of a "you're holding a bucket of FOOD!" look ;)

Oh, how sweet. Food is one of the good ways to get a happy animal. Toys and playtime is the other. Just watch out for the teeth, in either scenario.

Yes, I couldn't get too close to these guys - strictly speaking they're wild animals, so they're not very tame! I don't think I'd trust them not to bite me in playtime.....;) Food works for me!

I have worked with seals. When playing with them I had to always keep one foot away(liability, as a volunteer), and I learned to keep my eyes out for trouble. One seal in particular thought it would be fun to jump at my hand when it held onto a toy or hose. He likely thought he was playing, but it kept me on my toes. One of the female seals would come over and try to get me to touch her. As tempting as it was, I knew better.

I can imagine that these little guys move faster on land and would be harder to play with. More like sea otters, who weren't played with much.

Yea, I'd imagine so - they do move fairly speedily! :) I haven't actually worked with them, I've just spent 3 months working with lemurs, which were about the gentlest animals I've ever worked with...except the so-called gentle lemurs!

I must remember to take a bucket with me next time I go to see them if it gets that kind of reaction.
